A number of individuals have been brought to the Police Memorial Building in downtown Jacksonville for interviews, as confirmed by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A shooting incident on 103rd Street in Jacksonville’s Westside led to a man’s death at a local hospital on Wednesday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO Sgt. Matthews reported that officers were called to the scene following a report of gunfire near the 9800 block of 103rd Street around 7:45 p.m. During their response, they received information that the victim had been transported to a hospital by private car.

Tragically, the man succumbed to his injuries shortly after being admitted to the hospital, as noted by Matthews.

As of Thursday, details about the events leading up to the shooting remain unclear. Matthews highlighted that several people have been brought in for questioning at the Police Memorial Building. Meanwhile, detectives from JSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene Units are collaborating with the State Attorney’s Office to investigate the case.

“We believe this to be an isolated incident, with no further threat to the community,” Matthews reassured.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
