At least three people are dead, and the suspected gunman is in custody after a shooting at a Target store in Austin, Texas, on Monday.

Chief Lisa Davis of the Austin Police Department stated at a press conference that officers reacted to reports of a shooting around 2:15 p.m., and upon arrival, they discovered three individuals who had been shot in the store’s parking area.

The suspect, who Davies said was about 32 years old, had already fled the scene after stealing a car from the parking lot.

The chief said the suspect wrecked the vehicle before taking another car from a Volkswagen dealership.

Davis informed reporters that the investigation has yet to determine what triggered the shooting, mentioning that it’s unknown if there was any altercation involved at this time.

Still, investigators will review surveillance footage outside of Target to get a better idea of what happened.

Police initially described the suspect as a White man, possibly wearing khaki shorts and a Hawaiian floral shirt.
