In downtown Leland, Mississippi, a tragic incident during the Leland High School homecoming weekend resulted in the deaths of at least four individuals, with 12 others sustaining injuries, as confirmed by the city’s mayor to Fox News Digital on Saturday.
Mayor John Lee reported that the individual responsible for the shooting had not been identified or located by Saturday morning. He assured that “justice will be served.”
Offering sympathy, Lee stated, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who lost their lives, as well as those affected and injured by this tragedy.”
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation told Fox News Digital that it is assisting in the investigation.

Simmons also said late Saturday morning that he had not heard any information about possible suspects.
“As the state senator for the Leland area, we urge anyone who possesses information about this horrific event to step forward and share what they know,” he mentioned to the AP.
The mayor told Fox News Digital he is asking for prayers for his city, “Because this is not something that’s ever happened here before.”

“It was homecoming weekend, of course, and everybody’s family and friends and neighbors [were] together having fun in the downtown area, as we do every year,” Lee added.
