Twenty attorneys from the Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps, which is the legal branch of the U.S. military, have been tasked with prosecuting civilian cases in Washington, D.C., as part of the Trump administration’s increased focus on combating crime.

A representative from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the capital confirmed to Fox News Digital that these military lawyers will handle misdemeanor cases.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro stated, “The deployment of 20 JAGs to my office demonstrates President Trump’s dedication to addressing and reducing crime in the district.”

“Our mission to make DC safe again isn’t slowing down,” she said.

FBI Director Kash Patel touted the recent arrests, too.

“FBI joined federal partners in 31 more arrests last night,” Patel said Thursday morning.

The arrests comprised six illegal firearm recoveries, seven drug seizures, and charges such as theft, assault with a deadly weapon, drug offenses, assaulting an officer, and unlawful entry.
