On Wednesday night, President Trump attributed the tragic death of Chicago-area college student Sheridan Gorman to the immigration approaches of Joe Biden and JB Pritzker.
“Just days ago, an innocent 18-year-old college student named Sheridan Gorman was tragically shot while strolling through a park,” Trump remarked during the National Republican Congressional Committee’s (NRCC) annual fundraising event in Washington, DC.
Expressing his outrage, Trump alleged that the “illegal alien” suspected of Gorman’s murder had unlawfully entered the United States from Venezuela and had been allowed to remain in the country under President Joe Biden’s administration, whom he criticized harshly.

According to Trump, the accused, Jose Medina-Medina, was subsequently detained and yet released again by Governor JB Pritzker in Chicago, which Trump referred to as a sanctuary city. He labeled Pritzker as one of the most ineffective governors in U.S. history.
Medina-Medina had reportedly entered the U.S. illegally during May 2023, amidst Biden’s term, and was permitted to stay. He was later apprehended for shoplifting at a Macy’s store in Chicago but was released under the city’s sanctuary policies.
He was then arrested for shoplifting from a Macyâs in Chicago, but was let go under the cityâs sanctuary policies.
Medina-Medina allegedly pulled a gun on Gorman and her friends last Thursday near Chicagoâs lakefront and shot the teenager in the head.Â
Security cameras captured the entire attack and Medina-Medina was quickly arrested and charged with killing the Westchester, NY native, who was a student at Chicagoâs Loyola University.Â
âDemocrat politicians don’t care about the American blood they spill in their very demented pursuit of these open borders,â the president argued.

Trump said as part of the âquest to restore public safety ⦠corrupt Democrat officials who conspire to obstruct federal lawâ must be held accountable.Â
The president also claimed it would be âeasyâ for federal law enforcement to address crime in Chicago if Pritzker â whom he referred to as a âslobâ â would invite them in.Â
âWe could go to Chicago if that slob would allow us â if he’d just say, âPlease come, Mr. President. People are being killed here all the time. Please come.â I would come and you would have no crime practically,â Trump said. âChicago would be easy for us, but they don’t want to say that because they actually, I think, like it.
âI don’t know, they’re sick people.â
