DONALD Trump is reportedly set to visit the UK “in weeks” with plans for the president to visit his golf courses being drawn up.
It is said that Trump is likely to arrive in Scotland at the end of July or the beginning of August.
Police Scotland confirmed that it was preparing for a “potential visit later this month”.
Assistant Chief Constable Emma Bond informed The Sun, “Preparations are in progress for a possible visit from the President of the United States to Scotland later this month.”
“While official confirmation has not yet been made, it is important that we prepare in advance for what would be a significant policing operation.”
According to sources within the security and policing sectors, discussions are taking place throughout this week. It is anticipated that up to 5,000 officers might be needed, working shifts of 12 hours each.
But it is understood a final date is yet to be confirmed due to the president’s fluid diary.
The President could come to Scotland to visit his golf courses in Ayrshire and Aberdeenshire.
The Trump family also owns the Turnberry resort in Ayrshire on Scotland’s west coast.
The US president bought the Scottish Turnberry course in 2014 and it costs a whopping £1,000 per round of golf.
Now known as “Trump Turnberry”, it is recognised as one of the best golf resorts in the world.
Trump will open a new course at his Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire and he is expected to visit for the occasion.
However, it is understood there will be no private meeting with King Charles.
Trump will also make a full state visit to the UK later in the year, most likely in September.
It comes after the angry US leader slammed Vladimir Putin for talking “bull****” about the Ukraine war and making “meaningless” promises.
The savage attack comes as Trump vowed to send more weapons to Ukraine as he appears to be growing increasingly frustrated with the Russian tyrant.
Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with Putin, noting that their phone conversation last week did not advance the peace resolution in Ukraine—an objective the US president has advocated for since resuming his role.
But Putin has snubbed peace and is instead steadily increasing his overnight bombing raids – which could soon hit 1,000 a day.
