'This Is What I Voted For': Trump Executive Order Fulfills Big Promise on Care for Vets vs. Illegals

Throughout the 2024 presidential race, President Donald Trump vowed to reallocate funds currently used for accommodating illegal immigrants towards aiding homeless American veterans.

On Friday, Trump took action to honor this commitment by signing an executive order to create a “National Center for Warrior Independence” in Los Angeles, designed for homeless veterans using funds initially intended for illegal immigrants.

The center will allow veterans from around the nation to seek and receive care, benefits and services “to which they are entitled,” the White House said.

The order redirects funds previously spent on housing or other services for illegal aliens to constructing, establishing and maintaining the new center.

“The Center will promote self-sufficiency through housing, substance abuse treatment, and support for productive work for the veterans housed there,” the White House explained.

It said the goal is to house up to 6,000 homeless veterans at the center by 2028.

About 3,000 homeless veterans, which is about 10 percent of them, live in the Los Angeles area, so this would be of great aid to the biggest population.

That’s not all. The order also increases “options for care, benefits and services — including reduced wait times for Veterans Health Administration appointments through options such as expanded hours, weekend appointments and virtual healthcare.”

They’re also going to be looking into expanding services for a medical center in New Hampshire, which could be of great aid to people in that area.

This was one of those things under Joe Biden that made no sense: that so much money was spent on putting up illegal aliens at hotels, while American veterans were homeless and needing care. Trump has now flipped the script to put Americans first.

As we previously reported, the Veterans Administration (VA) has already done a lot to clean up the backlog and the wait times under Joe Biden. Improving the care provided by the Veterans Administration is a long-term need. Trump also invited wounded veterans into the Oval Office to honor their service in April.
