According to the police, a dispute among several women turned physical, which led to one woman firing a gun from a car.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An altercation between a group of women escalated into a shooting incident on the Northside of the city, resulting in two men being injured Saturday night, as reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Sergeant Smith from the Robbery and Violent Crimes Unit stated that officers were called to the 5400 block of Avenue B around 8 p.m. following shooting reports. Soon after, authorities learned that two individuals with gunshot wounds had been taken to a local hospital by a private vehicle.

One man suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his backside, while the other was shot in the leg. Both are expected to recover.

Investigators say the incident began as a verbal altercation among several women, which turned physical. One group got into a vehicle and left the scene, only to return shortly afterward. A passenger in the vehicle then opened fire into the crowd, striking the two male victims.

Witnesses said the women were possibly driving a Nissan.

JSO’s Crime Scene Unit is processing evidence at the scene, and violent crimes detectives are canvassing the area for surveillance video and additional witnesses.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact JSO or call the CrimeStoppers hotline at 866-845-TIPS.
