An undocumented immigrant with previous DUI offenses, recently released back into a blue state, is now accused of causing a car accident in Lakewood, New Jersey, which resulted in the deaths of a mother and her 11-year-old daughter.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrest of 43-year-old Raul Luna-Perez from Mexico, who has been charged with two counts of vehicular homicide and assault by auto related to a motor vehicle collision on July 26. Additionally, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has issued a detainer for him.
In a news release, ICE said that this was not Luna-Perez’s first run-in with the law.
He was arrested twice on charges of DUI in March and April of this year, and in June 2023 he was arrested for simple domestic violence.

Luna-Perez entered the U.S. illegally on an unknown date, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
ICE blamed New Jersey Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy’s sanctuary policies for allowing Luna-Perez to be released into American communities.
“Governor Murphy and his sanctuary policies have allowed this repeat offender to return to New Jersey neighborhoods,” Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated. “This family now suffers from the consequences of their inadequate governance.”
“President Trump and Secretary Noem are committed to removing these criminal illegal immigrants to prevent further tragedies.”
