Outkast, Cyndi Lauper, Salt-N-Pepa, The White Stripes and more introduced at 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame welcomed its 2025 inductees with a vibrant ceremony in Los Angeles on Saturday, filled with unforgettable musical performances.

This year, Soundgarden was among the honorees, marking a poignant moment following the passing of their iconic lead singer, Chris Cornell, over eight years ago.

“Growing up and still living in Seattle, Soundgarden are our local legends. Everyone from my hometown sees them as essential and transformative for rock music,” expressed Brandi Carlile, the acclaimed singer-songwriter.

The ceremony also paid tribute to the legendary band Bad Company, recognizing their enduring contributions to rock music.

On the red carpet, Entertainment Guru George Pennacchio queried, “What is it about Bad Company that has earned you a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?”

Drummer Simon Kirke responded, “It’s our simple, solid approach to rock and roll—straightforward and without any gimmicks.”

“These artists spend their whole lives, their whole careers, to be here on this stage this night. It’s something that they know only few get to be honored, kind of like Cooperstown in baseball and Canton, Ohio, for football. It truly is music’s highest honor,” John Sykes said.

The White Stripes were also inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, plus Outkast, Chubby Checker, and, among others, Salt-N-Pepa.

“As women in hip-hop, a male-dominated field, and in the ’80s, this was a little testy. I wasn’t sure about this,” said Pepa, whose real name is Sandra Denton. “And this is, to make it here, category, OK! I feel great.”

The late Joe Cocker was also inducted.

“His music was a part of the soundtrack of our household growing up, and I just think a huge influence on a lot of artists,” singer-songwriter Nathaniel Rateliff said.

Also celebrated was Cyndi Lauper, who now adds Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member to her impressive resume of music.

“I stand on the shoulders of all the women that came before me. And my shoulders are wide enough for the younger ones to stand on. And that’s what’s exciting about this evening,” Lauper said.

You can see the entire Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony streaming now on Disney+. ABC is also putting together a special that will air on New Year’s Day.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Disney+ and this ABC station.
