Elon Musk reveals inspiration behind rarely seen twins' unusual names

Elon Musk recently unveiled the intriguing origins behind the unique names of his and Shivon Zilis’ seldom-seen twins. This revelation came after a photo surfaced, shared by Tesla Owners Silicon Valley, capturing Musk kneeling beside his 4-year-old children. The image, tweeted on Wednesday, showed the twins with their backs turned, while their father beamed at them.

The 54-year-old Tesla CEO shared that his son, Strider Sekhar, was named after the character Aragorn from “The Lord of the Rings,” who is often nicknamed Strider. This choice reflects Musk’s penchant for drawing inspiration from popular culture and literature.

Additionally, Musk disclosed that his son’s middle name, Sekhar, pays homage to the esteemed Indian physicist Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, emphasizing Musk’s admiration for scientific greats.

Turning to his daughter, Comet Azure, Musk revealed that her name is derived from “the most powerful spell” in the popular video game “Elden Ring.” This choice highlights Musk’s affinity for gaming and its influence on his personal life.

While Musk opened up about the naming process for Strider and Comet, he remained mum about how he and Zilis, 39, chose the names for their other two children, leaving some mystery about their inspirations.

The businessman did not specify how he and Zilis, 39, came up with names for their other two children.

Their daughter Arcadia was born in February 2024, followed by son Seldon in February 2025.

In addition to Musk’s four kids with the Neuralink executive, he has welcomed 10 more children with other partners over the years.

He became a dad in 2002 when he and then-wife Justine Wilson’s son Nevada arrived, with the infant tragically dying days later.

The former couple’s twins, Griffin and Vivian, were born in 2004, followed by triplets Kai, Saxon and Damian in 2006.

Musk is estranged from Vivian, whom he once claimed was “killed” by the “woke-mind virus,” but quipped to the Financial Times in 2022 that he “can’t win them all.”

The SpaceX CEO also shares three children with Grimes — son X AE A-XII, 5, daughter Exa Dark Sideræl, 4, and son Techno Mechanicus, 3.

The exes have been engaged in a messy custody battle since ending their on-again, off-again relationship in 2022.

Musk has also been confirmed as the father of Ashley St. Clair’s son Romulus, born in September 2024 — after he shed doubt on the political commentator’s paternity claims.

While St. Clair told the New York Times in May 2025 that Musk once told her he’d fathered a child with a Japanese porn star and would offer his sperm to “anyone,” he has yet to address the 27-year-old’s allegations.
