Over 60,000 DR Power leaf vacuums recalled for laceration hazard

Leaf vacuums were available across the United States and Canada from September 2014 until June 2025, with prices ranging from $1,300 to $4,000.

WASHINGTON — In response to over 60,000 reports, a recall has been issued for leaf vacuums due to concerns that loose parts may be expelled from the machines, creating a risk of cuts and injuries.

DR Power Equipment has initiated a voluntary recall of several models of their walk-behind and tow leaf vacuums, which were sold from September 2014 to June 2025. This action was taken due to potential dangers from debris being forcefully ejected, which could breach the unit’s chute and cause harm.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, alongside DR Power Equipment, reiterated this recall on Thursday, January 8, following a similar alert in 2024. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far.

Consumers who own these vacuums are advised to cease use immediately and reach out to DR Power for a complimentary repair kit. This kit includes a metal outer shield to be affixed to the existing chute, complete with installation guidelines. For further details on obtaining the repair kit, click here.

These leaf vacuums were sold across the U.S. and Canada, priced between $1,300 and $4,000.

This recall involves DR Power Equipment walk-behind leaf vacuums and tow-behind leaf vacuums with the following model numbers:
