On Thursday, President Trump issued a stern warning to Iran, urging them to negotiate a deal “before it is too late,” following US airstrikes that obliterated Iran’s tallest bridge.
Trump released a video showing the destruction of the newly constructed bridge that linked Tehran and Karaj. He cautioned that “much more” devastation would follow if Tehran did not comply with US demands for a cease-fire.
The striking footage captured the 446-foot tall bridge crumbling into a cloud of smoke after the attack.
“Iran’s largest bridge falls, never to be used again—expect more to come!” the president announced on Truth Social.
He further emphasized, “IRAN MUST MAKE A DEAL NOW BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE, OR RISK LOSING EVERYTHING THAT COULD MAKE IT A GREAT NATION!”
A US military source informed the New York Times that the bridge’s destruction disrupted a planned military supply route for Iran’s missile and drone capabilities.
The Israeli military did not participate in the airstrike and said the bridge was a US target, in a briefing with reporters Thursday.Â
US Central Command, which is overseeing Operation Epic Fury, did not respond to The Postâs request for comment.
Itâs unclear if the bridge had been open to the public.Â
âBridge B1 has not yet been inaugurated,â Mehr, an Iranian state-run news agency said, while denying that the bridge was being used as a military supply route.Â
The attack killed eight people and wounded 95, according to Fars, another Iranian state-run news agency.Â
The strike comes after Trump announced in a prime-time speech Wednesday that he intends to bomb the Iranian regime âback to the stone agesâ for two to three weeks before ending the war.Â
âWeâre going to hit them extremely hard,â he warned.Â
Trump noted, âwe have our eyes on key targets,â if Iran refuses to make a deal with the US in the coming weeks.Â
âIf there is no deal, we are going to hit each and every one of their electric generating plants very hard and probably simultaneously,â he said.
