The United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) recently announced a significant military operation unfolding in the Caribbean, which resulted in the deaths of three individuals suspected to be involved in drug trafficking. This mission underscores the ongoing commitment of U.S. forces to counter narco-terrorism in the region.
According to an official statement released on X, General Francis L. Donovan, the commander of SOUTHCOM, authorized Joint Task Force Southern Spear to execute a targeted strike on February 13. The operation specifically aimed at a vessel believed to be operated by organizations designated as terrorist groups.
SOUTHCOM shared aerial footage of the strike, offering a glimpse into the precision and coordination involved in such operations. The footage depicts the vessel being hit as part of this strategic military engagement.
The intelligence gathered prior to the operation indicated that the targeted vessel was navigating well-known narco-trafficking routes across the Caribbean. This intelligence confirmed the vessel’s involvement in drug trafficking activities, thereby justifying the military’s decisive action.
The joint command reported that the strike successfully neutralized three individuals identified as narco-terrorists, highlighting the ongoing efforts by U.S. forces to disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking networks operating in the region.
Three narco-terrorists were killed during the operation, the joint command said.
No U.S. military personnel were harmed in the operation, the command added.
