In a dramatic moment during his State of the Union address, President Trump orchestrated a heartfelt reunion between a Venezuelan woman and her uncle, who had been detained as a political prisoner under the former Maduro regime.
Trump facilitated the reunion of Alejandra Gonzales and her uncle, Enrique Márquez. Márquez had been abducted by Maduro’s security forces and imprisoned in Caracas after opposing the autocrat in an election.
“Alejandra, I’m thrilled to tell you that your uncle is not only free but here with us tonight. We’ve brought him to celebrate his freedom with you in person,” Trump announced.
