A man from Georgia found himself in trouble when he was reportedly caught on video pushing children off their bicycles, causing one to crash into a fountain.

The Sandy Springs Police Department shared video evidence of the incident, dubbed a “juvenile bicycle assault,” on March 4, while announcing the arrest of Stephen Catterton.

The footage revealed a man strolling along 1 Galambos Way on February 28, approaching a child riding a bicycle from the opposite side, and then forcibly pushing him into a fountain. Subsequently, he turned and knocked another young cyclist to the ground.

A couple who witnessed the scene appeared to intervene, attempting to assist the two children as the man—later identified by authorities as Catterton—walked away.

“Upon arrival, officers spoke with two young males who reported that an unidentified adult male had assaulted them while they were riding their bicycles,” the police explained in a statement. “Thankfully, the entire incident was recorded on surveillance video.”

Following an investigation, authorities developed “probable cause” to arrest Catterton, apprehending him during a City Springs concert.

The arrest—which was also captured on the video footage—showed several officers walking into the packed auditorium, escorting Catterton out and placing him in handcuffs.

When an officer told him “you’re under arrest,” Catterton asked “What for?” to which the officer responded, “Assaulting juveniles. We have it on camera.”

Catterton tried explain his actions by telling the police officers in the footage that the kids “ran right at me.”

“Sir, we watched the video,” the officer replied. “You can tell that to the judge.”

Its unclear what charges Catterton could be facing as a result of the alleged incident. Oxygen reached out to Sandy Springs Police, but did not receive an immediate reply.

“Pushing kids off bicycles is not only unacceptable, it’s also a quick way to meet our officers,” police concluded the statement. “If Mr. Catterton happens to be your neighbor, you may want to use caution.”

It’s unclear whether Catterton has retained an attorney.
