Recently released body camera footage reveals Florida deputies detaining a Kentucky Powerball winner after he allegedly kicked a deputy in the face, just after he received his jackpot winnings.
James Farthing, age 50, faces a felony charge of battery on a law enforcement officer and two misdemeanor charges for simple battery and resisting an officer regarding the April 29 incident.
Farthing’s girlfriend, Jacqueline Fightmaster, was also detained. She was charged with disorderly intoxication, a misdemeanor, after allegedly attempting to fight other patrons in a resort bar.

Farthing purchased a $2 ticket at a gas station in Georgetown, Kentucky. Upon matching all numbers, Farthing, along with his mother Linda Grizzle, secured the $167.3 million jackpot, marking the largest prize ever won in the state.
At the time of his arrest in Florida, Farthing was on parole for charges from Kentucky. In June, he waived his right to a probable cause hearing and opted to complete his remaining sentence. He is anticipated to be released by the end of this month.
He has a lengthy criminal history, having spent a total of 30 years in prison at various facilities, according to reports. He has convictions across nine counties in Kentucky for several offenses, including choking a girlfriend, bribing officers while in prison and selling cocaine to an undercover officer.
