Authorities revealed that a confrontation inside Tipsy Bar & Grill led to a shooting after a suspect clashed with a security guard and brandished a firearm.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Three individuals are on the mend after a brawl at a Westside restaurant in Jacksonville spiraled into gunfire, according to police reports.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office detailed in a press briefing that the incident took place at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Sunday at Tipsy Bar & Grill, situated on Edgewood Avenue South.
Police stated that a woman and two men were subjected to multiple gunshots. Among the injured is a security guard employed at the establishment.
Investigations indicate that the altercation began when the suspect engaged in a physical fight with the security guard and subsequently opened fire.
A second security guard intervened, successfully tackling the suspect to the ground and restraining him until law enforcement arrived and apprehended him, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The three who were shot were taken to a hospital for treatment and are expected to recover.
The suspected shooter and the three who were shot are all reportedly in their 20s.
This is not the first time JSO has responded to a shooting at the bar this year.
Management at Tipsy sent the following statement to First Coast News:
“No one wants something like this to happen at their business. We have police outside, we have security; at this time we would like for the police investigation to conclude before we make any further comment.”
Officers are reviewing surveillance video and speaking to witnesses to learn more about what led up to the shooting. They believe this is an isolated incident.
