Storm Team 3: Scattered storms and isolated severe storms this week

Memorial Day started out mainly dry and warm. Afternoon highs were in the upper 80s to lower 90s – before scattered showers and storms developed.

A powerful storm hit Chatham County, resulting in some trees being damaged around Port Wentworth. Meanwhile, another intense storm emerged in Long County, but it didn’t cause any damage. Nonetheless, reports indicated occurrences of large hail near Ludowici.

Additional storms are anticipated to emerge on Tuesday afternoon, with a heightened likelihood in the evening. There is a slight risk that a few of these storms could intensify to severe levels, bringing threats of damaging wind gusts and hail.

We’ll have a similar pattern on Wednesday with scattered storms with isolated severe storms.

Storm activity is expected to remain high on Thursday and Friday. While widespread severe weather is currently not predicted, the combination of ample moisture and afternoon temperatures reaching the upper 80s to lower 90s may lead to the possibility of more isolated severe storms.

Friday will be breezy and gusty even without severe storms as a frontal boundary moves through.

The weekend will be mainly dry and seasonably warm in the mid to upper 80s for afternoon high temperatures.
