Vogue’s youngest ever editor-in-chief Margaret Zhang, 30, rocks bright blue hair and yellow snakeskin boots as she attends Milan Fashion Week

Australian fashion journalist Margaret Zhang made a style statement as she attended Milan Fashion Week on Thursday.

The 30-year-old, who is the editor-in-chief of Vogue China, rocked bright blue hair as she arrived to the Max Mara show.

She looked stylish in an oversized grey shirt and a black silk skirt with a slit and fringe as she strutted along the streets.

Margaret completed her ensemble with a pair of yellow snakeskin boots and several gold necklaces.

The fashion journalist wore dark sunglasses and held her phone in her hands as she arrived to the event.

Margaret became Vogue’s youngest-ever senior editor in 2021 when she landed the role of editor-in-chief at Vogue China aged just 27.

She succeeded founding editor Angelica Cheung, who started the Chinese edition of the fashion bible 15 years ago.

Despite never working in-house at a magazine, the Instagram fashionista was given the nod by Vogue’s global editorial director and Condé Nast chief content officer Anna Wintour.

Ms Wintour said: ‘Margaret creates content on so many different platforms and brings a new perspective and voice to Vogue China.

‘When Angelica Cheung founded Vogue China 15 years ago, she brilliantly broke new ground and now Margaret will continue that tradition of leading the incredibly creative and influential fashion culture in China.’

Margaret’s rise to the top of the masthead had been rumoured weeks before her appointment was confirmed, with fashion blogger Bryanboy tweeting the news prematurely while Vogue China responded they had nothing to share yet.

As a model and photographer, she launched her blog Shine By Three in 2009 when she was 16, and soon became a regular at fashion weeks across the world.

She was named Elle’s Digital Influencer of the Year in 2015 and appeared on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia and Time Out’s 40 Under 40 lists in 2016.

The commerce and law graduate’s work has been published in L’Officiel, Harper’s Bazaar, Nylon, Marie Claire and Elle.
