Waterproof suit collection allows office workers to seamlessly move from desk to swimming pool

A fitness club has introduced a new line of waterproof suits that enable individuals to easily switch from their office environment to the pool and vice versa.

David Lloyd Clubs produced the garments following feedback from members who said they struggled to fit exercise into their busy daily routines.

The images depict a stylish individual seamlessly transitioning from a quick swim during lunchtime to working on their laptop at a designated area in a matter of seconds.

The ‘Swim Suit’ collection, designed to be waterproof, is crafted from a unique, water-resistant fabric that repels water, with each piece requiring over three weeks to produce.

Designed to allow busy hybrid workers to go from desk to dip and back again, slickly helping members fit more wellness into their working days, the collection could be made available to the public soon, based on demand.

A spokesperson for the health and wellness group said: “More and more members are basing themselves from our work stations and dipping in and out of the pool, gym, group classes, or paddle courts throughout the day, making work life much more balanced.

“Pockets of wellness throughout the day make all the difference to our overall wellbeing, but trying to fit everything in can be tricky, so any little help to make the most of your time can make a big difference.

“The 20 minutes or so to get ready and showered after exercising can eat into your day. Now, you don’t even need to think about it – you can be straight out of the pool and back at your desk in a matter of seconds.”

It comes as a poll, of 2,000 office workers, found they spend an average of four hours and 35 minutes a week in meetings.

And 80 percent spend up to five hours straight in back-to-back meetings – eating into a large chunk of their day.

A massive 81 percent admit they try to avoid these types of meetings where possible but sometimes can’t help but get stuck in them.

Not only that, but people are also having to work an average of three hours and 15 minutes outside of their contracted employed hours.

This means almost half (47 percent) have had to skip their fitness and wellness activities due to their work schedule.

Of those who exercise, just 18 per cent do so on their lunch break, with half opting for after office hours.

In fact, 40 percent said they would feel guilty taking part in exercise during work hours.

While exactly two-thirds said they would love to take part in more fitness and wellness activities if their job didn’t get in the way.

And 70 per cent think workplaces should encourage people to take breaks to prioritise their wellness during office hours, the research by OnePoll.com found.

The most popular forms of exercise enjoyed by office workers include running (20 percent), swimming (12 percent) and yoga (nine percent).

A David Lloyd Clubs spokesperson added: “The pressures of work and family commitments can be overwhelming and it is hard to carve out time to look after ourselves.

“Rather than starting the new year with unrealistic goals, it’s more beneficial to form healthy habits that integrate into our lifestyles, improving wellness over the long term.

“Wellness doesn’t have to mean long stints in the gym or pool. Studies have shown that short ‘snackable’ bursts of activity – as little as 10 minutes throughout the day – can be incredibly effective for both our health and productivity.”
