Weather Impact Alert: Strong storms moving through Monday

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to sweep through the region on Monday afternoon.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — First Coast News has issued a Weather Impact Alert for Monday, March 16, as a cold front heads our way from the west, bringing with it pre-frontal thunderstorms.

WHEN: This alert is in effect until 5 p.m. on Monday, March 16.

IMPACT: Isolated strong to severe storms are likely in the morning, followed by a line of strong to severe storms moving in during the afternoon. These storms could produce damaging wind gusts ranging from 50 to 70 mph, brief and isolated tornadoes, hail, frequent lightning, and heavy rainfall.

PREPARATION: Stay prepared by having a safe shelter accessible in case warnings are issued for your area. Ensure weather alerts are activated on your devices. Keep rain gear ready, and tune in to FCN+ for updates during any warnings. Spring breakers should have contingency plans for outdoor activities.
