Wheel of Fortune viewers continue to be left frustrated by some of the mistakes Ryan Seacrest makes as the new host of the beloved game show.
Since taking over from longtime host Sajak in September, the 50-year-old presenter has been dealing with mixed reviews from fans as they adjust to his presenting style on the popular game show.
Though many have been deciding to turn a blind eye to the presenter’s gaffes, others have been left annoyed by one particular issue.
In a recent Reddit post titled ‘Ryan Not Reminding the Contestants About Crossword Solves,’ one viewer claimed Ryan’s failure to properly establish the rules was hurting contestants and taking away from viewing pleasure.
‘Makes me mad every time! Sometimes he reminds contestants how to solve these puzzles properly, and sometimes he doesn’t. Doesn’t seem fair. Oh, and this contestant today looked P**SED!’
Many were quick to agree as one person commented: ‘I immediately jumped on Reddit to see if people were talking about this.’

Another wrote: ‘Same. Felt bad for the guy. Like… come on. He knew this. He was filling in the blank.’
A third added: ‘Yeah that was weird, none of that “be careful, don’t add anything say only what is up there.”‘
‘I was heartbroken for him!’ one person stated. ‘But to play devil’s advocate, if you watch the show religiously, you should know the rules. HOWEVER, nerves could’ve definitely come into play.’
One Reddit user added: ‘I 100 percent agree, the first time he said “Party,” I was like noooooooo!! Ryan should do the disclaimer every time though.’
Another added: ‘They shouldn’t need to be reminded of the rules of the game, but I’m sure it would definitely be appreciated by the contestants.
‘I did feel bad for the guy that messed up because I think he realized his mistake as soon as he said “party.”‘
One fan simply stated: ‘Pat ALWAYS made sure to list the rules for these more meta puzzles!’
Others stepped in to defend Seacrest as one person wrote: ‘It’s not Ryan’s fault. These contestants should’ve watching the show, to study, before they get that special email.

‘Todd should’ve already known how the Crossword puzzles go. Even Pat didn’t always say “Say only what’s up there. Don’t add anything.”‘
Another commented: ‘Sorry, but the complaining about Ryan as a host is getting old! He is doing a great job! The contestants, however, are getting worse every episode.
‘When the producers are just looking for the most flamboyant contestants, they are not getting the players that are actually good at the game.
‘Anyone that watches the show knows these things: don’t add words, you get one letter and guess in final round, complete the express when you are in it and know the answer, don’t buy vowels when you know the answer… I could go on. The producers and contestant selectors are failing the show. I still watch every night though (for now).’
Meanwhile a former contestant jumped in to add: ‘As a former contestant, I assure you that the producers are VERY clear about the rules throughout the day! And they specifically go over this particular category.
‘As a former contestant, perhaps I have a biased view, but if I’m competing, I’m alright with Pat/Ryan not reminding them of common rules that any contestant should know. At the end of the day, it’s a game!’
It comes days after Sajak confirmed he is returning to take a ‘final spin’ as host of Celebrity Wheel Of Fortune in 2025.
The game show icon, who retired from the flagship Wheel of Fortune last June, will be back to host for the upcoming season of the primetime edition of the game show, according to press release from ABC.

He will make his triumphant return beginning on Wednesday, April 30, on ABC, with longtime colleague Vanna White by his side for the new episodes.
An assortment of actors, athletes, singers and comedians will be on hand to compete and help celebrate his final moments helming the popular game show.
The all-star lineup for Sajak’s last appearances include Cameron Brink, Josh Gad, Tiffany Haddish, Regina Hall, Rachael Harris, Ellie Kemper, Justin Long, Joe Manganiello, Katharine McPhee, Oscar Nuñez, Randall Park, Andrew Rannells, Sam Richardson, Matt Walsh and Rainn Wilson.
Celebrity Wheel Of Fortune welcomes celebrity contestants to spin the world’s most famous wheel and solve puzzles for a chance to win $1 million for the charity of their choice.
Wheel of Fortune averaged 7.99 million viewers during Seacrest’s first month, and during that time, the show was ‘the most-watched entertainment series across broadcast, cable, and syndication,’ according to Nielsen data per Newsweek.
In January, it was revealed that the show only saw a slight drop in audience numbers by the end of 2024.
Per The Los Angeles Times, Nielsen data showed WoF earning an average of 7.9 million viewers through December 1, 2024 – which was an increase of three percent from the prior year.
However, recent Nielsen figures reveal that rival game show Jeopardy! has managed to top the viewing charts in late January.
The show saw 8,430,000 people tuned in, according to The U.S. Sun, while WoF brought in 8,111,000 viewers.
