WASHINGTON — On Thursday morning, Secret Service agents intercepted a man who attempted to breach the White House grounds. During a brief confrontation, one officer sustained an injury.
The incident unfolded shortly after 11:30 a.m., when the man was apprehended by uniformed Secret Service police after he leaped over a construction barrier near the Treasury Building on the complex’s northeast side. Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesperson for the protective agency, provided these details in a statement.
The individual was confronted by officers near a pedestrian gate, where a physical struggle ensued before he was taken into custody, Guglielmi explained. During this altercation, a Secret Service officer suffered a cut, though the injury was deemed non-life-threatening.
