Who Killed Bunny In 'Only Murders in the Building' Season 2?

Who killed Bunny Folger (Jayne Houdyshell)? That is the mystery propelling Only Murders in the Building Season 2. While Season 1 of the Hulu show ended with a blood-soaked Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) hovering over the knitting needle-impaled body of Bunny, it seems that Mabel has been framed. Worse, whoever did kill Bunny has it out for all three hosts of the fictional Only Murders in the Building podcast: Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), and Mabel. Our heroes need to solve the murder of Bunny Folger as much to save themselves as to bring Bunny’s killer to justice.

So who exactly did kill Bunny? Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Episode 3 “The Last Day of Bunny Folger” brings the suspects into focus. Could Bunny’s killer be Nina Lim (Christine Ko), the ambitious, pregnant neighbor who gleefully took over Bunny’s post as the Arconia’s new Board President? What about the mysterious “friend” who Bunny had lunch with at the Pickle Diner the day before her death? What did she discuss with that person and why was she so adamant they weren’t friends? Or is Bunny’s death tied to Rose Cooper’s erotic painting of Charles’s philandering papa? Could Rose Cooper be back for revenge? Or is the key to the crime figuring out who profits most from Charles, Oliver, and Mabel’s downfall.

Given that this is Only Murders in the Building, we expect a ton of shocking twists and electrifying turns in the week’s ahead. But looking at what we know, here are our best theories about who killed Bunny after Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Episode 3…

Nina Lin

The Suspect: Nina Lin, the Arconia’s new Board President, played by Christina Ko
The Motive: On the night of Bunny’s death, she and Nina had a huge fight about the future of the Arconia. Nina had expected Bunny to retire, giving her control of the Board, but when Bunny says she wants to stay on, Nina blows up. Nina clearly has big plans and Bunny was in the way.
Likelihood of Guilt: At this point, Nina Lin seems like the most obvious suspect. That said, we’re only in Episode 3 of a 10 episode-long season. Something tells us that Nina Lin might be a red herring.

The Pickle Diner “Friend”

The Suspect: The mysterious person with whom Bunny had lunch with the day before she died.
The Motive: In “The Last Day of Bunny Folger,” we learn that she had lunch with someone at the Pickle Diner the day before her death. Her regular waiter Ivan assumes this person was a “friend,” but Bunny explains the mystery person is certainly not a friend. Could it be someone who has it out for Bunny?
Likelihood of Guilt: Until we know more, it’s impossible to say if the Pickle Diner person is a serious suspect or a red herring. That said, we sense that Pickle Diner person has something major to do with the plot if only because the show is being so mysterious about their identity.

Rose Cooper

The Suspect: The artist who was having an affair with Charles-Haden Savage’s father and who painted Bunny’s stolen painting.
The Motive: The mysterious Rose Cooper might just want her painting back. After all, it captures a very intimate moment in her life. Furthermore, if Rose Cooper is alive, she might have a bone to pick with the son of her former lover. Maybe she’s taking out revenge on her lover upon his son?
Likelihood of Guilt: If Rose Cooper is still alive, she’d be extremely old. Potentially too old to pull off not just a murder, but an elaborate plan to frame our heroes.

Amy Schumer

The Suspect: Amy Schumer, played by Amy Schumer.
The Motive: As an Only Murders podcast superfan, Ms. Schumer might be toying with her idols so she can be part of their world. (Isn’t it weird that the person she wants to play in a potential adaptation is…Jan?)
Likelihood of Guilt: It would be weird, it would be wild, and it would be bananas if Amy Schumer killed Bunny. Which is why we honestly can’t rule it out.

Cinda Canning

The Suspect: Cinda Canning, Tina Fey’s riff on Serial host Sarah Koenig
The Motive: Cinda Canning clearly has it out for Charles, Oliver, and Mabel. Could it be that she wants to orchestrate a podcast to bury the success of S1 of Only Murders in the Building? And she wants to take out the competition in the process?
Likelihood of Guilt: While the show is clearly setting Cinda up as an adversary, why would she kill Bunny? Trying to frame our heroes makes sense, but the crime doesn’t.

Maybe it Really Was Mabel? Or Oliver? Or Charles???

The Suspect: Our “heroes,” Mabel Mora, Oliver Putnam, and/or Charles-Haden Savage.
The Motive: All three characters loathed Bunny, but none so much as Oliver, who wrote incriminating notes to woman before her death. However, it seems more likely that Mabel accidentally killed Bunny, believing it to be self-defense. It seems important that Mabel has no memory of the incident. So maybe…could it be…that one of our heroes is actually the killer?
Likelihood of Guilt: We’re going to say the chances that Mabel, Oliver, and/or Charles killed Bunny are quite slim. After all, they are the heroes of Only Murders in the Building. But we’re not fully counting them out… This is, after all, a show that loves twists and this would be the biggest one imaginable.
