A Wisconsin police department announced Thursday morning that a teenage girl who was missing for two months was located in Nebraska.

Sophia Franklin, aged 16, vanished from Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, on February 2, prompting authorities to issue an Amber Alert. She was believed to be with a 40-year-old man named Gary Day.

Prior to the Amber Alert, Franklin had apparently been living in Arkansas with Day for four months, while her parents were under the impression she was staying at a friend’s house.

Leah Franklin, Sophia’s mother, informed the local media that the family remained in contact with her daughter during her stay in Arkansas. At the time, Day was on probation.

The elder Franklin said Day brainwashed her child.

“I do believe that she was brainwashed,” she said. “I believe that she was groomed.”

Day was reportedly charged with child enticement and abduction.
