Authorities in Georgia are on the hunt for a woman who allegedly made off with a full-size school bus from an elementary school, driving it nearly 40 miles before leaving it in a different county, officials reported.

The bus disappeared from Arbor Springs Elementary School in Coweta County during the early hours of February 9 and was eventually found in Temple, a city situated in Carroll County, according to a report from Fox 5 Atlanta.

Investigators revealed that the suspect had no need to break in, as she apparently possessed a key for the bus.

Images of the woman were captured by the bus’s internal surveillance cameras during the incident. A bag or purse was visible on the front seat in the footage.

The bus was retrieved without any noticeable damage. The sheriff’s office noted that the theft occurred on school grounds outside regular school hours.

The incident remains under investigation.

“We’re asking the public, especially those in Temple, Georgia, that area,” the sheriff’s office told the local station. “If they recognize whoever’s in the photo please reach out to investigator Taylor.”
