Valerie Bertinelli shares her 'fears' about returning to acting: 'Really terrified'

Valerie Bertinelli has opened up about her fears after announcing that she’s dipping her toes back into the acting world.

The Food Network alum, 65, revealed she’s gearing up for a new onscreen project with Lifetime — though she’s keeping the details under wraps for now.

“I’m incredibly thankful, although a bit nervous,” the “One Day at a Time” actress shared on Instagram. “The script is phenomenal, penned by an exceptional writer, and the cast exceeds my greatest expectations.”

“The role is beautifully crafted, requiring me to dismantle all my defenses, ignore external distractions, and embrace vulnerability. It’s essential to convey true, genuine emotions,” she continued.

Bertinelli told her 1.6 million followers on the platform that she hasn’t acted in a single-camera production for “at least” four years.

“At this moment,” she mentioned, “I understood I was experiencing a bit of fear. It’s been some time. However, I didn’t fully grasp how truly frightened I was until I saw these selfies I took to send to production.”

“I thought I was doing a pretty decent job of walking and talking through the fear and anxiety but my eyes never ever lie. 😅 You can see the fear and doubt in them,” she added.

The “Hot In Cleveland” alum noted that the nerves she’s feeling ahead of time are coming from a place of wanting to do her very best.

“I know, in reality, this is just my process and I’ll be fine,” she wrote alongside an upload of two selfies from her garden.

“I’ve been doing this for over 50 years, (it’s like riding a bike, right?) but I just love this script so much and I wanna do it justice.”

“So, feel the fear and do it anyway. Transfer the fear and anxiety into joy and excitement. They’re the same sort of feelings just on a different spectrum,” she added.

In a follow-up Instagram post Monday, the “Valerie’s Home Cooking” host shared her final thoughts before kickstarting her new project.

“It’s the small things that can always make me happy and grateful,” she wrote, tagging the post’s location in Vancouver, British Columbia. “Dancing sunlight streaming through a window in the morning? Happy. 😊”

“4:18a call-time tomorrow morning?” she continued. “Maybe not happy per se, but I’m so grateful to be working 🥰”
