A crash in downtown Los Angeles near the bustling fashion district injured nine people, several including children, authorities confirmed.
The specifics are scarce, and the exact events remain uncertain, although a video of the accident shared on the Citizen App depicts a minivan colliding with a structure on the sidewalk in the 300 block of East 12th Street, close to Santee Alley, an outdoor shopping area in that vicinity.
Crews with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene at around 3:15 p.m. and could be seen cordoning the area off with yellow tape.
At least one person was seen in the care of LAFD medical personnel at the crash site.
LAFD said all of the patients, six adults adults and three children, were being taken to the hospital in fair condition.
Los Angeles Police Department officials, in a message to X, previously known as Twitter, advised the public to anticipate delays on 12th Street between Maple and Santee streets as LAPD Central Traffic Division investigators managed the scene.
It is unclear if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision and whether the driver of the minivan is facing any potential charges.
