RICHMOND, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia is currently grappling with a surge in hospital admissions due to respiratory illnesses, recent data from the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) indicate. Respiratory concerns account for roughly 24% of all emergency department visits across the state. Alarmingly, children aged four and under appear to be the most impacted demographic, with a significant number requiring hospital care.
