WA extends vaccine mandate for high-risk workers

Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan has said the state is on track to reach the vaccination milestone of having 60 per cent of the eligible population aged over 12 fully vaccinated.

He said the milestone was a huge achievement considering its vaccine supply issues.

To up vaccination rates, Mr McGowan further announced an extension to the state’s mandatory vaccination program.

The program will now include workers in occupations with a high risk of transmission, including those in border control, healthcare, remote Indigenous communities, community care services, corrective services, police, and emergency services excluding volunteers.

The workers will be required to have their first vaccination by December 1, and to be fully vaccinated by the end of the year.
