Nancy Pelosi, the former Speaker of the House, is reportedly enthusiastic about Gavin Newsom’s potential presidential future, aiming to see him in the Oval Office, according to recent reports.

At 85, Pelosi is in her final term before retiring and believes that the California governor possesses the qualities needed to be an excellent president, as noted by Axios.

“She’s a big supporter of Gavin, and she doesn’t easily admire many people,” a former aide to Pelosi remarked. “When she identifies potential in someone, her judgment is usually spot on.”

Throughout her nearly 40-year tenure in Congress, Pelosi has consistently shown her support for Newsom, who is contemplating a presidential bid in 2028, as indicated by former staff members.

In a past interview with Vogue, Pelosi shared, “I’ve watched him grow politically and develop a beautiful family. For those of us who care about him, witnessing his evolution has been truly rewarding.”

As this marks the first time Pelosi will be outside of House leadership during a presidential election, she has the liberty to express her preferences ahead of the primaries, as the report highlights.

Newsom has been steadily raising his national and international profile, including speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, attending the Munich Security Conference and authoring a memoir set to be released later this month.

Pelosi and Newsom, both from San Francisco, are also related. Pelosi’s brother-in-law was briefly married to Newsom’s aunt.
