Biden adopts two puppies after his previous dogs terrorized White House personnel

Joe Biden, the former President, along with his wife Jill, recently welcomed two new puppies into their home from a rescue center in Tennessee. This comes after they rehomed their previous dogs due to multiple incidents involving White House staff members.

The adoption was announced by Rescue DOG, a sanctuary located in Mountain City, Tennessee. In a heartwarming social media update on Wednesday, they shared a picture of the Bidens with their new furry companions and their cat, Willow.

“These two pups from Johnson County found a new home with the Biden family yesterday,” stated a Facebook post from Rescue DOG.

The rescue center humorously noted that one of the lively Labrador mixes was too energetic to stay still for the photoshoot.

“We couldn’t be happier for these pups who were once left behind on the mountain,” the organization expressed.

The rescue shared that Jill Biden, accompanied by her stepson Hunter Biden, first encountered the dogs during a visit to one of their partner facilities in Delaware.

Melissa Gentry, who runs Rescue DOG, told Mountain City newspaper The Tomahawk that she was stunned to learn the Biden family adopted the puppies.

“The group that we transport with called us and said, ‘Are you sitting down,’ and I said, ‘No, but what have I done,’ They said, ‘You won’t believe who just adopted two of your puppies,’” Gentry recalled. “And my first thing I did was started laughing because I thought she was joking … it just blew my mind.”

Joe Biden has previously owned German shepherds, two of which were involved in a number of White House biting incidents.

Commander was given away in February 2023 after dozens of attacks on Secret Service agents and other White House personnel. At least two incidents involving Commander – one at the White House and another at Biden’s beach home in Delaware – were severe enough that the victims needed to be taken to hospitals.

Commander’s predecessor, Major, was rehomed in 2021 after also attacking personnel.

Biden’s office did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
