A Virginia billionaire linked to the bowling industry engaged in an affair with his children’s former nanny, eventually demanding a divorce in a dramatic incident during the Christmas holiday, as detailed by court records.
Peter Goodwin, 40, whose father William Goodwin was once a co-owner of the vast AMF Bowling chain, confessed to being unfaithful to his wife, Cara Goodwin, also 40, who is a clinical psychologist.
While Cara was busy looking after their children, Peter was reportedly entertaining the woman who had previously been employed by the family, as per documents acquired by the New York Post.
Annette Lombard, 27, started working for the ultra-wealthy family in 2019 while she studied at the University of Virginia.
The woman resided with the Goodwins throughout the pandemic and subsequently started working in Peter’s company, where she rose to the position of vice president.
Cara grew uneasy with the closeness between Peter and the nanny, Annette, towards the end of 2020, but disclosed that her protests were ‘brushed aside,’ as per the legal documentation.
In August 2023, Cara had her fourth child with Peter. Roughly a month later, Peter began voicing a strong wish for more autonomy and for time apart from his family to concentrate on his personal self-care.
This ‘self-care’ may have included luxury sports car and watches with hefty price tags, as displayed on Peter’s Instagram account.

‘Just trying to keep the revs high,’ his bio reads. His page is flooded with pictures of Ferraris and Rolexes, flaunting his lavish lifestyle to his nearly 17,000 followers.
Peter allegedly felt that Christmas Day of the same year would be an appropriate time to tell Cara as she held their baby that their marriage was through, documents say.
Cara ‘sat in front of him holding their four-month-old daughter’ as he abruptly broke the news and took off.
As he left, he was allegedly belligerently screaming and cursing as all his kids – aged two, five, seven and nine – watched in horror.
Peter and Annette launched into their full-fledged romance, indulging in luxurious stays at the Four Seasons Hotel in Florida less than a week later, according to court documents.
Over the next several months, the pair ‘engaged in adulterous acts’ from Wyoming to Florida, allegedly staying at the place Peter and Cara have together.
Peter officially filed for divorce in January 2025. There is a prenup in place and Cara wants half of their marital assets – including their companies – child support and $500,000 to cover legal fees.
They have shared custody of their kids, as agreed upon last year.

The New York Post reported that Peter filed to try to seal the divorce papers last month. Cara’s legal team is against this motion.
