Real reason ICE refused to let medics help Renee Nicole Good

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has issued a strong rebuttal to accusations that they prevented medical professionals from aiding a protester who was fatally shot in Minneapolis.

In a video taken just after the incident involving Renee Nicole Good, bystanders, including a person claiming to be a physician, are seen pleading with ICE agents to allow them to check her vital signs as she lay lifeless in her vehicle.

The federal agents reportedly refused these requests, instructing the individuals to “back up” and assuring them that “we have medics on scene.”

The footage has gained widespread attention, with civil rights lawyer Ben Crump among those sharing it online. Crump criticized the agents’ actions, describing them as “unconscionable” and alleging they declined assistance while the mother of three was in dire need.

However, Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin has refuted these claims, stating to the Daily Mail that ICE agents assessed Good’s condition and found her to be deceased.

“Right after the event, our ICE officers called for medical aid, and an ambulance arrived on the scene. The individual was pronounced dead with no pulse, but aid was provided immediately,” McLaughlin explained on Friday.

‘Any loss of life is an absolute tragedy. We do pray for the deceased and her family, and as well as for our officer and all affected in this situation.’

Good, 37, was killed by ICE agent Jonathan ‘Jon’ Ross during a protest in Minneapolis on Wednesday. He fired three shots at her in quick succession after she allegedly ignored agents’ demands to exit her vehicle.

The horrifying footage of the moments after Good’s death show how her community seemingly tried to rush to her aid.

‘Can I go check a pulse?’ a man is heard begging agents.

One replied: ‘No, back up! Now.’

But the man continued to plea, telling them how he is a physician.

‘I don’t care,’ the same agent answered.

Another added: ‘Hey, listen, we understand. We got EMS coming man, I get it. Just give us a second.’

The first agent interjected, telling the man that ICE has ‘medics on scene.’

‘Where are they? Where are they?’ a female bystander screamed out, as another person is heard asking about Good’s ‘f***ing pulse.’

An agent told the woman to relax, which appeared to enrage her even more.

‘How can I relax, you just killed my f***ing neighbor? He got her in the f***ing face!’ she yelled. ‘You killed my f***ing neighbor.

‘How do you show up to work everyday? How the f*** do you do this everyday? You’re killing my neighbors. You’re stealing my neighbors. What the f*** man?’

Ross has been branded a ‘murderer’ by furious Democrats but has enjoyed the full support of the Trump administration, who argue he acted in self-defense when it appeared Good intended to run him down with her car.

He is an Iraq War veteran who has served for nearly two decades in the Border Patrol and ICE, according to records. He has been an ICE deportation officer since 2015.

Ross was seriously injured last summer when he was dragged by the car of a fleeing illegal immigrant sex offender whom he shot with a stun gun while trying to arrest him.

The previous incident in which took place in Bloomington, Minnesota and left Ross with injuries that required 33 stitches.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and other Trump administration officials have defended Ross as an experienced law enforcement professional who followed his training and shot Good after he believed she was trying to run him or other agents over with her vehicle.

But video has raised questions about whether the shooting was in self-defense, and the FBI is investigating the deadly use of force. Some protesters are demanding that Ross face criminal charges, and Minnesota authorities also want to investigate.

Recordings of the shooting show an officer approaching Good’s stopped SUV. He grabbed the driver’s door handle as he allegedly demanded she open the door.

Her Honda Pilot began to pull forward and Ross pulled his weapon, immediately firing three shots and jumping back as the vehicle moved toward him.

It is not clear from the videos if the vehicle made contact with Ross. After the shooting, the SUV slammed into two cars parked on a curb before crashing to a stop.

Newly released surveillance video showed how Good apparently blocked the road with her SUV for four minutes before she was killed.

About 20 seconds after Good pulled up to the street, a passenger – believed to be her wife Rebecca Good – exited the vehicle and eventually began filming.

There is speculation that Rebecca Good, who admitted to bringing her spouse to the anti-ICE protest, exited the car so she could begin filming any potential clash with federal agents. She was seen wielding her camera during Ross’s confrontation with her wife but it is unclear when she first started to record.

The Goods moved to their family to Minnesota just last year. They are understood to have fled the US after Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 election, going briefly to Canada before settling in Minneapolis.

Good then allegedly became involved in the community at her six-year-old son’s charter school and a local ‘ICE Watch’ group, which is a coalition of activists who seek to disrupt ICE raids.

The Trump administration has repeatedly characterized the shooting as an act of self-defense and cast Good as a villain, suggesting she used her vehicle as a weapon to attack the officer who shot her.

Vice President JD Vance said the shooting was justified and Good was a ‘victim of left-wing ideology.’

‘I can believe that her death is a tragedy while also recognizing that it is a tragedy of her own making,’ Vance said, noting that the officer who killed her was injured while making an arrest last June.

But state and local officials and protesters rejected that characterization, with Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey saying video recordings show the self-defense argument is ‘garbage.’
