The upcoming film adaptation of Wuthering Heights has taken the internet by storm with its overt eroticisation – as the steamy trailer features finger-sucking, bondage and very intimate sound effects.

Despite being only a minute and a half long, the teaser does an impressive job of cramming in as many racy scenes as possible, and has already been branded ‘the new Fifty Shades Of Grey.’

Starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff and Cathy – and with an apt release date of next Valentine’s day – Emerald Fennell’s interpretation of the classic novel is unashamedly sexy.

Even the title card is not safe from the clutches of sensuality, and the swirling font is lace-textured.

One scene sees Heathcliff’s fingers sprawled haphazardly over Cathy’s face, with a few in her mouth for good measure.

He’s not left out, though, and she generously offers him one of her own to suck on in a separate clip.

And sharp-witted viewers will remember that the fish even saw some action earlier on.

In the novel, Edgar’s younger sister Isabella Linton becomes infatuated with Heathcliff.

And the trailer sees her confess her love by crawling on her hands and knees with a heavy metal collar around her neck as she sticks her tongue out as far as it will reach.

Another clip sees the camera zoom in to Heathcliff’s whipped and bloody back, with the sound of a whip cracking in the background.

Desperate Heathcliff partakes in a bit of voyeurism when Cathy kisses her husband in front of him, and he looks angrily on.

In another raunchy scene Heathcliff, with his hands creeping down Cathy’s front, asks her in a clunky English accent: ‘Do you want me to stop?’

The still breathless Cathy gasps, it seems, into the microphone before saying: ‘No.’

Other notable mentions are a smouldering Heathcliff standing dripping wet in what looks like a barn, and the sound effects – be they squeezing, dripping, breathing, whipping or gasping – that endure throughout.
