He was a founding father of the United States, the chief staff aide to General George Washington, one of the most influential interpreters and promoters of the United States Constitution, the founder of the nation’s financial system, and the founding member of the first American political party. Alexander Hamilton was born on January 11, 1755 or 1757, and died on July 12, 1804, in Philadelphia. As Secretary of the Treasury, Hamilton was the primary architect of the economic policies of the George Washington administration, including the Federal government’s funding of state debts, the establishment of a national bank, the imposition of tariffs, and the establishment of friendly trade relations with the United Kingdom. As a result of his beliefs, he rose to become the head of the Federalist Party, which was founded in large part to promote them. He was opposed by the Democratic-Republican Party, which was led by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. Hamilton was a soldier in the American Revolutionary War (American Revolutionary War). 

To prepare for the war’s commencement, he formed an artillery unit and was appointed to the position of company captain. Later, he rose to the position of senior staff assistant and confidant to General George Washington, the commander-in-chief of the American troops. Hamilton led three light infantry battalions at the Siege of Yorktown, which was the war’s decisive last fight and resulted in victory. Subsequently, he served under the military leadership of (now President) Washington in the armed forces that were formed to put down the Whiskey Rebellion, a tax rebellion by western farmers that occurred in 1794, and was later promoted to major general. Following the XYZ Affair in 1798-99, Hamilton advocated for a mobilisation against France and was appointed by the second President, John Adams, as commander of a new army that was being prepared for war. However, despite the fact that it was fought mostly at sea, the Quasi-War was never formally proclaimed and did not include military action. Adams was successful in finding a diplomatic solution that prevented a land conflict from erupting. Hamilton was orphaned when he was around 11 years old.

He was born out of wedlock to a Scottish-French mother and reared in the West Indies. Following his community’s recognition of his skills and ability, he was sponsored by individuals from his community to pursue further education in North America. In colonial New York, he attended King’s College (now Columbia University), which is where he met his wife. Following the war, Hamilton was elected to the Congress of the Confederation as a representative of the state of New York. He quit in order to pursue a legal career and established the Bank of New York.
