Arina Fedorovtseva, who competed in her debut Olympic Games in 2021, has already made a mark on international courts at 17. Let’s explore everything there’s about this young athlete.
Arina Fedorovtseva was born into Olympic glory, having grown up as the daughter of Sergey Fedorovtsev, a gold medalist in rowing from Athens 2004. It would have been an iconic feat for her to duplicate her father’s legacy at such a young age.
Arina is a tremendous asset to the Russian team, both in attack and defence.
Arina Fedorovtseva Wikipedia
Arina Fedorovtseva grew up as the daughter of two rowers and is the first volleyball player in her family.
After being titled Outside Hitter in the Dream Team at the European U16 Championship 2019 in Croatia and Italy, the athlete enjoyed early individual success.
At the European U17 Championship 2020 in Podgorica, Montenegro, she was named Most Valuable Player and Best Outside Hitter last year. Arina’s inclusion in the senior team, which will compete in the Volleyball Nations League this year, was no surprise.
A few months later, the true aim came when Fedorovtseva travelled to the Olympic Games as part of the ROC team, following her father’s footsteps.
Fedorovtseva had a reasonably consistent performance in the preliminary round.
She was her team’s leading scorer in an opening loss to Italy, scoring 10 points. Her form improved as she became ROC’s second-best scorer, scoring 12, 13, and 19 points against Argentina, the USA, and Turkey, respectively.
Her most outstanding performance came against China when she scored 28 points in a five-set match against the ruling Olympic champion, including 23 winning spikes, three blocks, and two aces.
Arina felt the emotions, as it was a crucial victory for ROC. In addition, international coaches took notice of her performance.
Meet Arina Fedorvtseva Parents
Arina Fedorvtseva was born to Russian parents.
Sergei Fedorovtsev, Arina’s father, was a rower for the Russian Federation and won gold in the quadruple sculls at the 2004 Olympic Games held in Athens. He has competed in the Olympic Games in 2008 and 2012.
Her mother’s details remain unknown as of now.
Despite her parents’ strong interest in rowing, Arina had no intention of following in their footsteps.
“I first tried swimming, but then I started playing volleyball because I enjoyed it when I first saw it, and I was fascinated by the spirit of this game, so I started volleyball training, and I’ve been enjoying it ever since,” she told Volleyball World.
