    Emily Maitlis’s recent tweet, in which she announced her new work venture, alarmed everyone. People are stunned to learn that she will be leaving the BBC, where she has worked for over 20 years.

    Maitlis from Newsnight and Sopel from LBC’s parent company Global have both signed new contracts.

    Although no specifics have been revealed, Maitlis described it as a “major new podcast,” and Sopel stated that “opportunities like this just don’t come along very often.”

    Yes, Emily Maitlis is leaving BBC news, as she shared on her Twitter. She is not on Newsnight as she will be fronting a new podcast for Global Player with her colleague, Jon Sopel. 

    Maitlis took it on Twitter to share her about her new venture. She described leaving the broadcaster after a “phenomenal” two decades as a “wrench.”

    The Newsnight presenter discussed her new role and her departure from the BBC. “Some work news – @BBCJonSopel and I are going to launch a brand new podcast with @Global, executive produced by @dinosofos,” she wrote.

    It’s an incredible opportunity to do something we all enjoy, and we are overjoyed that Global is allowing us to be bold and ambitious with this project.”

    “Above all, I’m grateful to have worked with some of the most incredible people, many of whom have become dear friends. “I owe everything to my BBC colleagues, ” she continues to write.

    Emily joined Newsnight in 2006, and her most famous interview on the current affairs show occurred in November 2019. It was when she sat down with Prince Andrew to talk about his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffery Epstein.

    Emily Maitlis is married to her husband, Mark Gwynne who is a Catholic investment manager. The news presenter has an estimated net worth of $2million as of February 2022.

    She met her husband while she was working in Hong Kong. The couple is blessed with two children, Milo and Max. 

    According to the BBC’s annual accounts, Maitlis earn at least £325,000. However, with her new appointment, it is expected that the deal for a new show and podcast is likely to result in a pay raise. 

    Maitlis has amassed a fortune from her career as a documentary filmmaker and a journalist. She is a WellChild Celebrity Ambassador and an avid runner. 

    Furthermore, Maitlis is a polyglot who excels in French, Spanish, and Italian, as well as some Mandarin. 

    Where Is Emily Maitlis Going?

    Emily Maitlis, a British journalist of the BBC will be leaving BBC and going to Global, LBC. She will be hosting a new podcast for Global Player, co-host a radio show on LBC, and contribute commentary and analysis to the station’s website.

    Along with Maitlis and Sopel, there are other personalities who will be joining them, in their team.
