Early Life and Ancestry: Growing Up in Quebec
Jessica was born into a French-Canadian family – her father, Anthony Pare, was the head of the Education department at McGill University, and her mother Louise Mercier was also an intellectual, with a multi-decade-long career in conference interpreting. She grew up in one of the more affluent neighbourhoods of Montreal – Notre-Dame-de-Grace, with three older brothers. Due to her mother’s insistence, she learned both French and English as a child. If you’re looking for the reason why Jessica chose acting, look no further than her mother and father, who dabbled in amateur productions and teaching drama, respectively. Jessica said that she really became interested in being an actress when she rehearsed lines from “The Tempest” with her dad. Her first acting credit was in “The Baby-Sitters Club “, in the episode “Mary Anne and the Brunettes”, when she was only ten years-old. Unbeknownst to most, her ancestors were also celebrities – Alphonse Pare, her great-grandfather was a famous engineer, while her mother is descended from Elizabeth Griffith, an 18th century Welsh-Irish actress, writer and essayist.
Education and Acting as an Option
In 1995, Jessica enrolled at Villa Maria, a prestigious all-girl Catholic high school in Montreal. During her senior year, she managed to land a role in a small-time television movie called “Bonanno: A Godfather’s Story”, which was well-received by her friends and critics alike, which prompted her to think about acting as a legitimate profession in life. After matriculating from Villa Maria, she enrolled at Dawson College, with a focus on their fine arts program, but rarely attended classes, mostly because she studied drama at TheatreWorks at the same time. Pare eventually dropped out of college to pursue a career in acting, and hopefully make a name for herself.

Career Beginnings: TV Movies, Big Wolf on Campus, Stardom
While she had a foray into acting at the age of 10, Jessica’s first big roles were in “Bonanno: A Godfather’s Story” and “Big Wolf on Campus”, where she tried her hand at two dissimilar but both very difficult styles of acting. This propelled her to the role of Tina Menzhal in “Stardom”, which tells the tale of a young girl being inadvertently ‘sucked into the world of supermodels, glamour and wild parties. Almost immediately afterwards, she appeared in “En vacances” (“Holiday” in English), a 2000 French movie centered around a family looking back at their Christmas predictions from ten years ago. Her role in “Lost and Delirious” was widely praised as ‘candid and brilliant’, then after two smaller roles in French shows, she was the star of “Posers”, a 2003 film about girls who have decided to form a gang. 2004 saw Jessica take on the role of Nancy Eaton in “Deadly Friends”.
Around this time, Jessica also tried her hand at photography, sporadically working as an assistant photographer during automotive events and photoshoots.
Continued Success: Jack & Bobby, Satisfaction, Mad Men
Fans also remember Jessica for her role in21 episodes of “Jack & Bobby”, a teen drama about two brothers who argue a lot when they’re kids, but one ends up being the President of the United States. Afterwards, she delivered excellent performances in “Satisfaction”, “The Trotsky” and “Brooklyn”. However, her greatest career achievement was the role of Megan Draper in “Mad Men”, co-starring alongside John Hamm and Elisabeth Moss, appearing in a total of 49 episodes. In recent years, Jessica has been less active, however, her one constant role is in “SEAL Team”, as Mandy Ellis, a series about the most dangerous top secret missions by US Navy SEALs.
