Al Zombory is not in prison but rumored to be dead. However, there is no official obituary notice.
Around this time last year, Dateline NBC featured the ‘murder for hire’ story of the Eastlake Conspiracy. Here we explore how their plan came to light and saved someone’s life.
Is Al Zombory Dead or Still In Prison?- Is There An Obituary Notice?
Several news sources said that Al Zombory has died in prison. But, there is no obituary notice. He was sentenced to 9 years of prison life as he was found guilty of conspiring a murder his daughter’s ex-husband David Metter.
As shown in Dateline, David Metter won back the custody of his four kids after he found out that his children were not receiving proper care from their mother, Christine. One day, Christine met her high school friend Patrick Sabo online and discussed her domestic problems.
Jokingly, he said, “Save your money and hire a hitman! LMAO,” to which she responded with a “Lol.” However, after a few hours, she invited him for dinner at her home with her father.

According to a statement from Sabo, Zombory started to discuss murdering his former son-in-law. He offered $50,000 to him to complete the task. However, Sabo informed the cops about the ongoing conspiracy.
The cops asked him to play along with him. So the undercover officer, Detective Christopher Bowerstock, played the role of a hitman and offered $3,000 as a downpayment.
Later, they showed the photoshopped picture of David shot in his head to Al. Finally, after collecting enough evidence, the police arrested the father-daughter duo.
Al Zombory And Daughter Christine Metter Murder Conspiracy Update
The police debunked Al Zombory and daughter Christine Metter’s murder conspiracy. Christine’s defense lawyer stated that her father misled her and was innocent during the trial.
However, the prosecutor argued that she did not like the control of her daughters in her ex-husband’s hand, and she may be the one who manipulated her father into the act. In addition, the protective father also claimed that she had no idea about anything.

But the statement from Christine’s trial contradicted what her father said. Thus, the court sentenced Zombory to 9 years of prison and his daughter for ten years.
He died while in custody after serving five years. He was 83 years old at that time. In contrast, his daughter was released on March 25, 2021.
