Rebecca Maddern has walked away from Channel Nine after almost six years at the network.
The 44-year-old, who hosts Australian Ninja Warrior and Weekend Today, exited following a lengthy contract negotiation.
According to the Herald Sun, Maddern and Nine ‘were unable to agree to terms on a new deal’.
‘Bec has been a great contributor to Nine since she joined us and we wish her well for the future,’ Nine said in a statement.
With Maddern out at Nine and Ben Fordham exiting his role as co-host of Ninja Warrior earlier this year, the show will be looking for two brand new hosts.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Maddern for comment.
The mum-of-one joined Nine in 2016 after almost 15 years at rival Channel Seven.
Her first major role was as the co-host of the AFL Footy Show, before joining Australian Ninja Warrior in 2017.
The Melbourne-born beauty’s career continued to go from strength to strength in the following years, as she was chosen to host Nine’s tennis coverage in 2018 before becoming the Weekend Today co-host in 2019.

Rebecca Maddern Career
Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies from RMIT in 1999, Rebecca a Geelong local, made the move to Melbourne to begin the first chapter of what would later be an illustrious and diverse media career.
Working initially in radio as a sports reporter for Triple M and then presenting news at Fox FM and Nova, it wasn’t long before Rebecca made the jump into world of TV, reporting for the Seven Network.
Rebecca’s talent shone immediately after winning a prestigious Quill Award in 2003 for her coverage of Victoria’s bushfires in only her first year of television reporting. This honor opened another door for Rebecca and led to roles presenting the 4:30 PM nationwide bulletin and the 6 PM Victorian program.
Rebecca also appeared regularly as a host and reporter on Seven’s flagship AM programs, Sunrise and The Morning Show. Her versatility saw her cover major news events, sports, and entertainment in a wide variety of locations. The 2012 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Australian Open Tennis, the Melbourne Cup, AFL Brownlow Medal, and Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal, were among the events Rebecca was front and center for as part of Sevens broadcast.
Outside of her media work, the Geelong native grew up a Cats supporter and became the club’s Number One Ticket holder in 2011, which much to her delight, coincided with the club’s ninth Premiership.
Rebecca’s passion for sport and in particular her beloved Geelong cats, saw her become the first ever female co-host of Nine Network’s The Footy Show, taking her profile to a new range of audiences.
Rebecca’s football knowledge, vibrant personality, and news instincts brought a new dimension to the long-established program. Rebecca, now a key member of the Nine family, joined Australian Ninja Warrior in 2017 as co-host, bringing excitement and energy to the fan favourite series, alongside other co-hosts, Freddie Flintoff and Ben Fordham.
Rebecca’s extensive media CV grew even further at the start of 2019, when she fronted the coverage of the Australian Tennis Open. The first time the Nine Network held the rights to the tournament Rebecca’s experience undoubtedly was the perfect fit to broadcast one of Australia & the World largest sporting spectacles.
Rebecca’s media prowess later led her to also take on a hosting role for the Nine Network’s coverage of the Cricket World Cup in 2019, cementing herself as a versatile asset to the Sport Broadcasting landscape within Australia and in 2020 was appointed co-host of Weekend Today alongside industry veteran Richard Wilkins.
Her polish has also been used to effect by a number of organizations as an MC and host for the likes of Myer, RACV, Workcover, ANZ, Vic Health and the AFL.
A passionate ambassador for the ROCK OFF MND campaign for motor neuron disease, she also supports a domestic violence awareness organization called McAuley Community Services for Women, which runs the only Victorian crisis centre that operates 24 hours, seven days a week.

Previously, she was married to Geelong real estate identity James Wilson in October 2006. However, the couple couldn’t their relationship and had divorced. The former couple hasn’t any child together. In 2007, she was the ambassador for the Geelong Cup.
