Early Life: Destined to Be a Dancer?

Scottie was born into an American family in the capital of the state of Virginia. Her father Joseph Thompson is a homemaker, while her mother, whose name hasn’t been disclosed, is a former musician; so it can be said Scottie has artistic genes. She grew up with two siblings, brother Justin and her siste, Payton. At a young age, with the encouragement of her parents and grandmother, Scottie pursued jazz, ballet and modern dance. From the very beginning, she invested a lot of effort into refining her skills and dance routines, and during her early dancing years, she won a couple of local and regional competitions. In 1995, she joined the famous Richmond Ballet and began performing together with their main roster of dancers. Around this time, she started her tenure at the Collegiate School in her hometown, which is known as one of the best preparatory high schools in the country.

Education: Finding Her Place at Harvard

An exceptional student all her life, Scottie enrolled at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she was a member of the Harvard Ballet Company and performed in many stage productions. Even though she was barely 20 years-old, this streak of exceptional performances garnered significant attention throughout the country. In 2003, Scottie worked as the PR manager for Hasty Pudding Theatricals, an acting group formed by students at Harvard, then in 2004, she was the editor and manager of Let’s Go Travel Guides, an organization which gives Harvard students and alumni the opportunity to work as tour guides, and show tourists the campus; she is credited as an editor of the collective’s book “Let’s Go: Vietnam”.  In 2005, she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Performance Studies and Literature – given the fact that she has been fluent in French ever since an early age, it’s no surprise that her academic focus was on French and Postcolonial literature.

Fans of “Grey’s Anatomy” were delighted when they saw Scottie assume the role of Dr. Renee Collier in two episodes of the show. However, she wasn’t finished with television that year, as she appeared on an episode of “Rosewood”, a show about a genius Miami pathologist who uses cutting-edge techniques to solve the crimes in South Beach. In 2016, she made an appearance in “12 Monkeys”, a groundbreaking sci-fi series about scenes on post-apocalyptic Earth, and went on to appear in a total of seven episodes. In the last three years, Scottie has mainly been focused on movies – she was in “Crown Vic” and “Epiphany”, a movie about a girl who struggles to maintain a relationship with her estranged father.
