Career as a music producer

Katie’s career as a music producer was officially launched in 1998, when she wrote music for the “Tonight at the House of Blues” movie – she went on to work on the “Stone Temple” TV series, and the “House of Yes: Live from the House of Blues” documentary movie in 2000. In 2001, she produced music for the documentary films “Public Enemy: Live from House of Blues”, “The Psychedelic Furs: Live from the House of Blues”, and “Mötley Crüe: Lewd Crüed & Tattooed”. She created music for two musical videos in 2003 entitled “Heart: Alive in Seattle” and “Check 1, 2”.

In 2004, Katie was asked to make music for the “Suzanne Westenhoefer: Live at the Village” TV comedy special. In the same year, she produced music for the “Underneath Acoustic Live” musical, and in 2005 worked on the “Mötley Crüe: Carnival of Sins” documentary music video.

In 2006, she worked on the “Van Wilder 2: The Rise of Taj” teen comedy movie, the year 2007 saw her produce music for “The Bangles Return to Bangleonia” music video, and her last work before she stopped serving as a music producer was on the “Neil Diamond: Hot August Night/NYC” movie.

Marriage with Neil Diamond

Katie and Neil met while she was serving as a video producer during the filming of a documentary following Diamond’s life – Neil asked her on a date, and eventually promoted her to the position of his manager. Neil is nearly 30 years older than Katie, and was married two times before he began dating Katie – first wife was Jaye Posner (1963-69), and then married Marcia Murphey in 1969 shortly after his divorce – they parted ways in the mid-‘90s. After his second divorce, Neil started dating Rachel Farley, and they were together until 2008, but didn’t marry.

In September 2011, Neil and Katie became engaged, and married in April 2012 in Los Angeles at the Beverly Hills Hotel, with only their closest friends and family attending  – actually 225 people!

Who is Neil Diamond?

Neil Leslie Diamond was born in Brooklyn, New York City USA on 24 January 1941 – his nationality is American and his birth sign is Aquarius. Neil is a singer and a songwriter who has 38 songs which have reached the top 10 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary charts. Neil grew up in a Jewish family, and is of Polish and Russian descent – his father was Akeeba Kieve Diamond who worked as a dry goods merchant, and his mother was Rose, a housewife.

Neil’s father was member of the US Army and the family therefore moved a lot around the states during Neil’s childhood. Neil enrolled at the Erasmus Hall High School, where he began singing on a daily basis, and then switched to Abraham Lincoln High School – at the age of 16, he wrote his first songs. He studied at New York University after matriculating from high school, but quit 10 units before graduation as he got a job as a songwriter. He spent four months writing songs at Sunbeam Music, and then focused on his solo career signing a contract with Columbia Records in 1962.

After his single “At Night” failed to make it to the charts, Columbia Records fired him, and Neil went back to writing songs for the following seven years. He signed with the Uni Records on 18 March 1968, with his two songs “Cracklin’ Rosie” and “Song Sung Blue” released in 1970 and 1972 both reaching #1 on the Hot 100 charts.

He released several albums in the ‘70s, in addition to his aforementioned singles – in 1979, he collapsed while performing in San Francisco, and had to undergo surgery to remove a tumor he had on his spine.

In 1980, Neil wrote the “America” song for “The Jazz Singer” movie, and it became a huge hit in the US – it was played during the Statue of Liberty’s 100th anniversary, and served as an anthem after the 9/11 attacks in 2001 – at the time, the song was more popular in the US than “God Bless America”. The ‘90s saw Neil release six albums, while he released three albums in 2000s including his third “A Cherry Cherry Christmas” holiday music album. The 2010s saw Neil win numerous awards, while he was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame on 14 March 2011, and on 10 August 2012 got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

His song “Sweet Caroline” was saved in the National Recording Registry in 2019, and has been characterized as ‘culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant’.

Katie’s likes and interests

Katie is a huge lover of animals and is actively fighting for the proper treatment of animals, and trying to put an end to trophy hunting. She enjoys spending her free time in nature, especially in the wilderness where she has an opportunity to observe wild animals – she is an amateur photographer, mostly focused on taking pictures of wildlife. She funnily considers herself to be a car chase expert, as it is written in the caption of her Twitter account.

Her favorite season is autumn as she loves its colors, and she mostly enjoys travelling during this time, as many animals are outside enjoying the weather or hunting for food. She is interested in everything that has  anything to dowith space, and had an opportunity to watch the launch of the Celestis during the space memorial.
