The Emotions which is a group of sisters was started in their hometown in Illinois, Chicago. They first started as a gospel group and were featured in the “Children’s Gospel” television show hosted by Jerry Van Dyke. They also sometime performed in the Mahalia Jackson concert.

The Emotions group sisters were mentored by their father Joe Hutchinson and became very popular in their hometown. The group started in 1962 as Hutchinson Sunbeams but was later rebranded as The Emotions. They were first signed to Stax Records in Memphis and then later to Columbia Records where they released their third album.

Their first album, So I Can Love You was released in 1969. Some of their hit songs include The Best Part Of A Love Affair, Heart Association, Show Me How from the album Untouched, My Honey and Me, I Don’t Wanna Lose Your Love from the album Untouched Flowers, Don’t Ask My Neighbors, Best of My Love, Boogie Wonderland a collaboration with Earth, Wind & Fire, What’s the Name of Your Love?, You’re the One, You’re the Best,
