Who is Bianna Golodryga?

Born Bianna Vitalievna Golodryga on the 15th June 1978, in  Căușeni, then the Moldavan Soviet Socialist Republic and which is now the independent state of Moldova, she is a journalist, best known to the world for her extensive work for CBS News as a correspondent. She has also worked for CNN and ABC, among many other differing career events.

Bianna Golodryga Wiki: Early Life, Parents, and Education

Bianna, of Bessarabian-Jewish ancestry, moved to the US with her family when she was only 18 months old, with only $150 in their pockets. The family first settled in Galveston, Texas, then family moved to Houston, Texas. As the years passed, Bianna’s parents became more successful, and her father, Vitaly became a consultant for DuPont, while her mother, Zhana became the Chief Information Officer of Hess Corporation. Bianna went to High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, however, as she got older she became more interested in journalism instead of acting, and upon high school matriculation, she enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin, from which she obtained a degree in Russian/East European & Eurasian studies, with a minor in economics.

Career Beginning

Bianna decided not to pursue journalism as a professional career after college, and instead became focused on finding a spot in the corporate world. She started off as a licensed trader with a few companies, but after the big drop and financial crisis of the late ‘90s, she was ready to pursue journalism. Inspired by the work of Maria Bartiromo and her work on CNBC, Bianna called the station several times, but was denied when asked about job opportunities. Despite these setbacks, Bianan didn’t give up and in 2001 her persistence paid off, as she was offered a job at CBC, being named producer at the station, a position she held for the next six years. She made her first screen appearance for CNBC, as an on-air contributor after she was asked to fill in one day, since when, she has featured in a number of popular daily shows.

Rise to Prominence

Gradually, Bianna’s role in the journalism improved, and in 2007 she was named correspondent for ABC, a position she held until 2010 when she was appointed as the new co-anchor of the weekend edition of “Good Morning America”, after Kate Snow decided to leave. During the next four years Bianna’s name became extremely popular, most notably for her exclusive interview with Anzor Tsarnaev, the father of the Boston Marathon bombers Tamerlan Tsarnaev and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. However, she left ABC in 2014 and joined Yahoo! News, focusing on the finance and business department of the news website. However, that didn’t last long as she soon started guest-hosting “Way Too Early” aired on MSNBC, and also became a contributor for the “Morning Joe” show, also on MSNBC.

Bianna Golodryga Controversies

Back in 2016, she was accused of being biased against Russian president Vladimir Putin by Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, after she confronted him because of his utmost support and defense of Vladimir Putin. Years before, when she had just finished college, Bianna was caught drunk driving, but the driving-while-intoxicated charge was dismissed, as she pleaded no contest and received a suspended 30-day jail sentence.
