Rise to Prominence

Diana started the next decade with the role of Jeanne in the Academy Award-nominated film “Honeysuckle Rose”, and was then chosen for the lead role in the drama film “Inside Moves”, starring next to John Savage and David Morse, and which gained her an Academy Award nomination and launched her to prominence. She continued with another successful role, the part of Christina Crawford in the biopic about Christina’s childhood and adult life, “Mommie Dearest” – with these two roles, Diana was at the top of Hollywood. In 1983, Diana starred in the sci-fi horror film “Strange Invaders” with Paul Le Mat and Nancy Allen, and had a supporting role in the Golden Globe Award-nominated drama “Rumble Fish”, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, and a supporting role in the film “Silkwood”, starring Meryl Streep, Kurt Russell and Cher. Her next prominent appearance was in the thriller-horror film “Psycho III” (1986), co-starring Anthony Perkins and Jeff Fahey, and before the end of the decade, Diana also starred in the television film “After the Promise”, next to Mark Harmon.

Career Decline

The ‘90s weren’t so successful for Diana – though she featured in several films and TV series, only a few are worth mentioning, including the television film “Truman” (1995), in which she played Bess Truman, and for which she won an Emmy Award nomination. She tried to revive her career with the start of the new millennium, first with the role of Jody in the film “What Lies Beneath”, starring Harrison Ford, James Remar and Michelle Pfeiffer, and then as Elke in the highly-acclaimed biopic about Michael Alig, entitled “Party Monster” in 2003, starring with Macaulay Culkin and Wilson Cruz, but there was no stopping her career decline. Before retirement, Diana secured a couple more popular roles, as Karen Tyler in the short-lived fantasy drama series “Wonderfalls” in 2004, and as Vivian Davies in the romantic drama film “Dream Boy” in 2008.
