Did Cheech Marin Have Leg Amputation Due To Accident?

Cheech Marin was not in an accident, and his legs were not amputated. Cheech Marin’s fans were perplexed when Alfonso Marin was involved in an accident and had his leg amputated due to the identical surname.

Alfonso had just dropped off coworkers at their construction site on December 3, 2004, when an SUV crashed into him at 172nd Street and Broadway in midtown Manhattan, trapping his left leg against the van and breaking his femur.

Alfonso was rushed to a nearby hospital with a cold, pulseless leg. He was diagnosed with severe trauma and massive degloving to his left lower extremity, including multiple comminuted segmented fractures, a complete transection of the bone, and lacerated blood vessels, including the major artery and vein, resulting in extensive blood loss.

Alfonso’s leg was eventually amputated above the knee following many hours of surgery. Alfonso sued the motorist who struck him and was awarded his entire $100,000 policy limits.

Where Is Cheech Marin Now: Health Updates

Cheech Marin currently resides in Malibu, California. Cheech appears to be in good health, with no health problems reported about him on the internet as of yet.

Two national traveling exhibits have featured Cheech’s private collection. Marin began collecting Chicano art in the 1980s. He believes it is critical to “use his celebrity to draw attention to what he perceived to be an under-appreciated and under-represented type of painting.”

He developed The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art, Culture, and Industry in Riverside, California, in partnership with the city of Riverside and the Riverside Art Museum, which is set to open on June 18, 2022.

Cheech will donate his collection of over 700 works of Chicano art, the world’s greatest collection of such art. The facility, which is expected to attract international interest, will serve as a venue for displaying and studying Chicano art.
