Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has firmly declined an appearance on Fox News, citing allegations of sexual harassment by one of the network’s hosts. The New York Democrat revealed these accusations on Wednesday after a Fox News producer, Johnny Belisario, approached her on Capitol Hill with an invitation to join Jesse Watters’ program. “Jesse Watters would like to invite you on his show,” Belisario inquired. “Would you join him?”
AOC’s Accusations Against Watters
Ocasio-Cortez quickly retorted, “He has sexualized and harassed me on his show… He has engaged in horrific, sexually exploitative rhetoric.” Belisario countered, “That’s not true, Congresswoman.” However, Ocasio-Cortez insisted that Watters had insinuated she desired a relationship with Stephen Miller, the White House deputy chief of staff. “It is true,” she asserted, “He accused me of wanting to, quote, unquote, sleep with Stephen Miller. So why don’t you tell me what you think is acceptable to say to a woman? Thank you.” She then turned from the cameras and walked away.
Stephen Miller, a pivotal figure in Trump’s administration and the architect of strict immigration policies, has often been a controversial figure. A recent article in The Atlantic likened Miller to Heinrich Himmler, Adolf Hitler’s notorious planner of the “Final Solution.” In October, Watters made the provocative claim on his Fox News show that “AOC wants to sleep with” Miller, a statement that even prompted fellow host Greg Gutfeld to comment, “That was pretty creepy.” Watters’ controversial remark followed AOC’s criticism of Miller, calling him a “clown” and joking about his height.
‘It is so obvious. And, I’m sorry, you can’t have him,’ Watters added The 47-year-old host added that he knows Miller ‘the best’ and that he is ‘not overcompensating.’ Watters then went on to scold and lecture AOC on what he classified as ‘high value men’, adding that Miller is the definition. Miller’s wife, Katie, was even asked by Watters on a later appearance on Fox: ‘What is it like being married to such a sexual matador?’ Katie replied that her husband was ‘an incredibly inspiring man’ who ‘wakes up the day ready to carry out the mission that President Trump was elected to do.’
AOC Doubles Down On Her Comments
Ocasio-Cortez on Wednesday night doubled down on the comments she made to the Fox producer. ‘You can either be a [expletive] or ask me to be on your little show. Not both,’ she wrote in a post on X. ‘Good luck.’ Although Fox has given her extensive coverage throughout her Congressional career, AOC has never sat down for a traditional interview on the television network. The Daily Mail has contacted Fox for comment.
