Laura Loomer, a prominent far-right activist and well-known internet figure, has recently become the latest addition to the Pentagon press corps. Known for her staunch support of Donald Trump, Loomer’s new credentials allow her to report from the Department of War, aligning her with a growing number of right-wing media outlets that have embraced the department’s updated credentialing policy. Celebrating her appointment on social media platform X, Loomer expressed her eagerness to delve into Pentagon coverage and uncover stories that influence national security strategies.

“I am excited to cover the Pentagon and uncover stories that will have an impact on our country and national security,” Loomer stated in her announcement. She also mentioned her extensive network of contacts and encouraged individuals with information to reach out via her Loomered Tip Line, which she dubbed the “most influential Tip Line in all of DC.” Recently, in September, she supported comments made by Hegseth about military readiness, agreeing with his stance that having overweight soldiers is “unacceptable.” Loomer’s inclusion in the Pentagon press pool comes amidst significant shifts in the Defense Department’s media engagement approach.

Just a few weeks prior, there was a mass walkout by nearly all Pentagon reporters in response to a new policy restricting their information-gathering efforts to what officials choose to publicly disclose. This decision faced widespread criticism from numerous media organizations, including Fox News, CNN, The New York Times, and The Washington Post, who argued that it threatened press freedom. In stark contrast, One America News, a conservative television network, was the sole outlet to accept the policy’s conditions.

Among the media outlets expressing support for or signing onto the new agreement are organizations like LindellTV — the streaming network run by MyPillow founder Mike Lindell, and The Gateway Pundit. There are other independent journalists and online bloggers who have also signed on; however, none of these organizations has maintained a consistent presence at the Department of War until now.

Loomer has frequently directed her criticism toward top Pentagon figures, among them Col. Earl G. Matthews, who at the time was awaiting confirmation as the Defense Department’s general counsel. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll was the latest top official she took aim at. In April, she posted on X, accusing Matthews of potentially ‘subvert[ing] and obstruct[ing]’ Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Then in August, Loomer turned her attention to Driscoll, denouncing his decision to commend Medal of Honor recipient Florent Groberg.

Loomer has built her reputation through a series of headline-grabbing stunts and public clashes that have kept her at the center of controversy. Known for her confrontational style, she’s been banned from several social media platforms and has run multiple insurgent political campaigns as a vocal ally of former President Donald Trump.

One of her most publicized feuds has been with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, whom Loomer accused of betrayal and hypocrisy after the two fell out politically and continue to spar online. The Department of Defense and White House did not respond to requests for comment.
